Infant/Toddler

Serving children from 3 months to 36 months, our Montessori Infant & Toddler program provides a nurturing, peaceful environment designed to support the unique needs of our youngest learners.

Our youngest children are welcomed into a separate Infant Center located at 1800 E Main St in Ashland, away from our larger school community. This smaller setting allows us to create a quieter, more intimate environment specifically designed for infants and young toddlers with a lower student-teacher ratio. The space includes an age-appropriate play area, carefully selected materials, and opportunities for safe movement and exploration that are suited to the developmental needs of children from 3 months through the toddler years.

For infants, Montessori education begins with respectful caregiving and the belief that even the youngest children are active participants in their own development. Teachers provide attentive, responsive care while giving infants opportunities for movement, sensory exploration, communication, and growing independence. As children become more mobile, they are encouraged to explore their environment freely and safely, developing coordination, confidence, concentration, and an awareness of their surroundings.

As children grow into toddlerhood, the prepared environment evolves with them. Children are introduced to purposeful Montessori materials and meaningful everyday activities that encourage hands-on learning and independence. Simple practical life experiences, sensory exploration, early language activities, movement, and opportunities for self-care help toddlers strengthen fine and gross motor skills while developing concentration, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. Rather than rushing children toward academic expectations, our teachers follow each child’s readiness and encourage learning through meaningful experiences.

A Montessori Infant & Toddler program provides more than care; it offers a thoughtful foundation for lifelong learning. Through warm relationships, consistent routines, respectful caregiving, and a carefully prepared environment, children develop a strong sense of security and belonging. Our smaller Infant Center at 1800 E Main St in Ashland gives our youngest students a calm and nurturing space where they can grow at their own pace, build trusting relationships with their teachers, and develop the confidence to take their next steps toward independence.
