Montessori for the Kindergarten Year

The preschool years are done and it's time to send your child off to elementary school. Most parents send their children to Kindergarten at the local public school, for good reason. It's free, their child's friends are going there, and it's probably right around the corner from their house. Why would you choose anything different?

At the Butterfly House we are trained and certified to offer your child an enriching kindergarten year. But why should you opt to keep your children at a Montessori preschool rather than send them to the public school with the other 5 year-olds in your community? After all, tuition to a Montessori school is a big investment.

When a child transfers from their preschool to the local school it will take time for them to adjust to the new atmosphere and hinder the learning and development that could happen during this crucial year.

Enrolling your child for Kindergarten at the Butterfly House will allow for our teachers to continue to help your child blossom as they have already developed a deep relationship and understanding for your child's individual developmental process.

As a Kinder in the Montessori school your child will have the opportunity to lead the younger children. Their time as teacher and guide will help them to fully understand concepts, learn patience and empathy, and practice articulation of thoughts and ideas.

By the end of the Kindergarten year children within a Montessori school will often times be more academically advanced than their peers. However, this is only a by-product of the true intention of the Montessori classroom. With an extra year in the Montessori prepared environment your child will leave with so much more: love of order and concentration,  mastery in gross and fine motor skills, independence, and development of character qualities such as responsibility, patience and compassion.
